Supplements
by Dr. Jeff Werber, DVM
I'm often asked if it's necessary to give a dog or cat vitamin supplements. My answer is always the same: "It depends."
If you have a young dog or cat enjoying good health with good energy, a shiny coat, and giving you lots of wet kisses then no, you probably don't need a supplement.
If however, you have an aging pet, or a pet with joint problems, or a pet with digestive problems, or even a pet that exhibits signs of separation anxiety or depression, supplements can help.
You can pick up over-the-counter supplements addressing these issues and more, but it's always a good idea to check with your veterinarian. They know your pet's medical history and can advise you what would benefit your pet the most.
